Classic P-Bass Tone
I'm an experienced musician with 1200+ gigs under my belt. I've owned basses by Alembic, Pedulla, Paul Reed Smith, Carvin, Peavey, Warwick, Fender, Mike Lull, Steinberger, and Gibson. Now, I'm not here to claim that a Squier sounds better than any or all of these brands. But I can say with all honesty that the Classic Vibe series is an awesome deal for the money. My Lull J-Bass is incredibly easy to play and gets that great modern tone, but it's like putting a crazy driver behind the wheel of a fast car. My playing on the Lull tends to get overly busy and loud. I bought the Squier specifically because it's harder to play, has an old school tone, and steers my playing back into the groove. It's also the lightest bass I've ever owned, and stays in tune very well. I'd recommend it to anybody.

Very Cool, something different...
For the money this bass is unbeatable. Flawless finish, looks and feels really cool. Will set you out from the crowd.
Be aware that as it only has one single coil pick up (vintage style)some players may find it a bit limited. But I really like the sound it puts out.
If you play rock, country, blues, folk, or Jazz etc. this will do the job.
Maybe not Metal, Heavy stuff, Slap etc.
A couple of things to note is the single coil pick up can make a bit of noise (a common issue). I have recently purchased a copper shielding kit which I hope will solve this issue. It's not a huge deal though. The other is the string spacings are a bit wider than a modern bass. It personally doesn't bother me. I got used to it pretty quickly. But if you have small hands you might find it a bit uncomfortable. Especially if you wear your bass low.
Out of the box the action was really bad. I mean almost unplayable. But I got a guitar tech to set it up...
