Better than you'd think
I've bought "Squire" instruments in the past and they seemed somewhat "cheap" but okay. This one however is a step up. Perhaps it's the Duncan Designed pickups but I love the sound and feel a lot. I also purchased (not on amazon) an Ampeg BA115 and the two are whatever you need it to be. Smooth or a little grungy. The stacked vol/tone knobs are pretty sweet as well and allow for an almost endless combination. As for the looks?? Well it doesn't look like your typical cookie cutter Squire huh? It looks much better in person than the pics. Glad I bought it and I think I'll keep this one for a long time.

Typically a Squier hater...
I'm a bit of an all American, Fender, purist. In my desperation for appearance, I thought I'd give it a go. I love it.
The action is a bit high, but that's my only complaint. I absolutely love the balance, tone, and feel of this bass.
I would purchase again.
I was looking for an inexpensive bass to use on gigs instead of my priceless (to me), '72 Jazz. I had read the reviews on this Squire and thankfully it sounds and feels as described in the reviews. You can get just about any sound you want out of it. The action was higher than I like so I adjusted it...no problem except that the allen wrench that came with it did not quite fit. Luckily I had one in my tool box. The only disappointment was that the fretwork was rough at the edges. I had to file/smooth most of the fret edges on both sides of the neck as they would actually scratch the skin of my left hand. Anyway, nice bass for the money. I would purchase it again.
