Fender set the standard more than five decades ago with an elegantly enduring design for an innovative instrument that transformed popular music. Such simple elegance continues today. Fender's Standard Precision Bass guitar features a comfort-contoured body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, single split-coil hum-canceling pickup and knurled chrome American Precision Bass knobs.

Favorite
Good bass for the money, my favorite one I have ever owned. Love to play it, and its sturdy. Mine is black with a black pick guard and white trim. I also added strap locks. So fun to play. Good bass. (I have 9 years of bass playing experience in jazz, swing, rock, and just about everything else. I have owned 5 basses over that time period and this one is a keeper.)

My fave P-Bass
I have an early 2007 model. This bass replaced an 80s American '57 Reissue P-Bass with a (way too big) maple fretboard/neck. The old one sounded great but the neck was just too huge. We replaced the stock pickup with the USA "Original '62" P-Bass model, the OEM wiring with cloth stuff, the OEM pots with CES models, the stock jack with a nice Switchcraft model and subbed an Orange Drop capacitor. The end result was a darn nice sounding P-Bass with a neck that was much easier to work with.
Added a tortie pick guard, chrome covers, aftermarket rounded knobs, strap locks and a nice Gator ATA case and at that point this became my "first-out" bass for R&R gigs and it has retained that status since 2007.
If you don't mind a little fuss-work after the sale, you can't beat this model for an economical alternative to the high-end U.S. versions and you'll wind up with a bass that's fun to play and that won't put you in the poor house getting it the way you like it.
Perfect for all bassists.
I've been playing bass for 3 years and among the 7 basses I've owned, this one has to be my favorite. I am personally a death metal/grindcore bassist and it's always given me that perfect sound. I've seen it confirm to many different genres as well. A few good friends of mine do jazz and blues bands and it never fails to provide the perfect sound.
